A San Francisco Engagement

DSC_2736.jpg

Life has been so crazy lately and getting into the groove of blogging again has been slow going. Graduating from college and starting work full time plus regularly photographing weddings, and lifestyle sessions does a number on you! While I have been lacking in the social media department I love my new life in Dallas and all the exciting changes happening!

I got a lot of questions about the dress I wore the day Ryan and I got engaged so I will let everyone in on where it's from and how much I paid for it. You will be very surprised!

When I was browsing things to do in San Francisco I came across pictures of this little beach and knew we had to go. I immediately had visions of a long flowing green dress with the contrast of the large rocks in the background. Is it crazy that's how my mind works? Whenever Ryan and I have plans to travel I always scope out photography spots, create visions, start planning, and make it a reality. As a photo hobbyist my pictures are my souvenirs and they are precious to me!

I got online and started looking for my green dress and I'm not kidding around when I say I looked EVERYWHERE. Lulu's, Nordstrom's, Rent the Runway, Dillard's, ShopBop, Asos, etc. I just couldn't find what I was looking for. One day Ryan was talking about how he can find everything he needs on Amazon so I thought what the heck, I'll look on Amazon. I started looking and found a flowing green skirt with a belt for THIRTY-SIX DOLLRS. Yes, that's $36. But it was only the bottom half of my visionary dress, so where was I going to get the top half? I started thinking skirt + belt...how can I altar this to make it into a dress? I took a shot in the dark and ordered it thinking I could make some alterations. When it came in it was the most perfect material and I had to make this work! I took the belt, draped it around my neck, and tucked it into the skirt. Viola! I had my perfect dress. For $36.

Here's the link to the skirt in all the colors it comes in. (I was trying to wait until they restocked but they haven't yet and only have larges. The one I am wearing is a size small).
